Commercial feed stores offered rock-hard brown sugar bricks packed with preservatives and synthetic dyes. I began mixing rolled oats, unsweetened applesauce, and blackstrap molasses in my home kitchen to reward my own mare after dusty jumping lessons.
Fellow riders noticed how eagerly ears pricked at treat time, and soon asked for custom crop charms to match their saddle pads. What began as a personal tack box project quickly grew into a dedicated small-batch kitchen.
Three steps to crunch
Wholesome mixing
Hand-cut shapes
Low-temperature cure
We stir whole rolled oats, grated crisp apples, and natural molasses together in small stainless bowls without artificial preservatives or wheat fillers.
Every batch is hand-rolled and cut into bite-sized cookies before being pressed on parchment sheets for consistent, chewable portions.
Trays dry slowly in gentle convection ovens until thoroughly crisp and shelf-stable, keeping their snap even when riding around in your humid tack trunk.
If a cookie recipe does not pass muster with the pickiest gelding on our aisle, it never makes it into our shop bags.
